If you are like me, the first time you became aware of who Shana Hiatt is, you were watching the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. Forming a major part of the team along with Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten for the first three seasons, Shana helped make the World Poker Tour telecasts something both unique and interesting. Of course the concept of televising a World Poker Tour series was the idea of Steve Lipscomb, and he couldn't have found a better person for the job of making it a "must see" weekly event than Shana Hiatt.

Shana's two partners, Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, while both integral parts of the team, don't offer anything spectacular to make the average poker fan come back every week the way that Shana does.

Mike Sexton, who is also the spokesperson for Party Poker, is a veteran poker player and a familiar face to most of the professional poker players on the circuit. He does a fairly good job as an announcer, but no better than many other possible choices. His analysis at times is very good, but at others, somewhat lacking.

Vince Van Patten, the third part of the team, leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to his poker commentary. I could be wrong, but I believe that he is on the show simply because he is a fairly attractive male, for the female part of the audience. Usually you think of attractive females filling this role for the male audience, but this is one case of the opposite. In the past he has been a host on the Hollywood Home Game. I don't really get anything out of his commentary and feel he could be replaced with any of a number of announcers who would do a better job.

This brings us back to Shana Hiatt. Because of her attractiveness and ability to communicate with players and fans alike, I think she played a bigger part in the popularity of the World Poker Tour than either of her co-workers. She will be missed.
